Colorado Green Wind Energy Facility
The 162 megawatt (MW) Colorado Green Wind Energy Facility is a jointly owned by PPM Energy and Shell WindEnergy. Located in Prowers County, Colo., approximately 30 miles south of Lamar, and 50 miles north of the Oklahoma border power produced by the facility is being purchased by Xcel Energy to serve its customers in Colorado.
Colorado Green is built across more than 11,840 acres of cattle grazing lands, with the turbine foundations occupying less than two percent of the total acreage. Agricultural activities take place directly adjacent to the turbine foundations.

The city of Lamar, located 20 miles north of Colorado Green, has embraced wind power with banners on streets and buildings. In 2004, the Colorado Green Project dedication coincided with Lamar Days in which the city's enthusiasm for wind power was on display in the parade.
